EMDR Stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing. It is a method developed by Dr Francine Shapiro (Psychologist in the USA) in 1987 to treat trauma. It is a good therapy for treating major trauma and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Examples include rape, armed hold-ups, childhood sexual abuse. It is also a good therapy for treating an accumulation of many minor distressing life events.
